FAQs

How do I join –What are the steps?

A Parental Contract will be sent to you – this will include important information such as any medical needs, allergies and emergency contacts.  The workshop leader will compile a class register from this information.  You should attend the venue when you have had confirmation your place is secured after payment. You will have a 15 day cooling-off period from the date this contract is signed, if you did not meet the workshop leader face to face, should you change your mind.

Why should I catch this train?  (Benefits of attending)

Regular attendance can help to:

Improve gross and fine motor skills

Your child will develop EYFS and musical skills

Improve speech and language and recognition of words

Have fun singing

Move to a rhythm and  take part in lots of activities

Build social skills and make friends

Is my place guaranteed for next half term?

You will get priority booking for the following term for the regular class time and venue you attend.  To guarantee your space, payment must be made before the priority booking deadline.

Can I feed my baby during class?

Young children should not be eating in class – it is a safety aspect, as children will be moving around and using props.  Classes are timed so that a snack should be made available before or after class if needs.

The exception is for babies who don’t run to timetables!  A bit like trains!  You must provide what your baby needs.

Do I have to be musical?

Not at all!  But we would love you to join in!

What do the classes involve?

Class numbers are small and children are grouped into age groups (although similar abilities may be joined together dependent on numbers).  A nominated adult stays for the duration.  Classes include: music, activity, rhymes and stories to a given theme for the week.

What am I paying for?

Themed weekly classes based on EYFS, with age-appropriate skills and props based on many years of teaching / musicianship experience.  The opportunity to meet other parents in the local area and make friends!

How much does a class cost?

Please ask the representative for costs.

I am unable to make my usual class next week, can I attend a different class? Or can I get a refund?

Refunds and credits/alternative class times and/or venues cannot be offered at this time, but, you are able to offer your space to another parent/child if they fall into the same age category for the session you are due to miss.  This just needs your prior communication for the class register please and any important information passing on (such as emergency contacts).  This could take the form of a “swap” between parents that you would arrange and inform Tiny Train Tunes.

Are there nappy changing / toilet facilities at your venues?

All venues have toilet facilities.   Please do take soiled nappies home to ensure the venue is pleasant for all users.  Some venues also have a small lounge area for purchasing a coffee.

What do I need to bring to class?

Whatever your child might need.  All the resources for class are provided.

Can I bring an adult friend/relative to class?

Please do check with the workshop leader as space allocations may not allow for this.  This must be agreed in advance.

How many children attend a class?

The maximum for most venues is 10 children, accompanied by an adult.   Normally classes will have less attendees.

Can I bring a baby or additional child to my class/ What if I have twins?

Any additional children will be charged at the standard rate, unless they are under 12 months and attending a class for an older sibling – in which case they will be free.  Please make us aware so we may add the details to the class register and keep a record of numbers of attendees.

Is it OK for me to take photos or video in class?

In order to protect all attendees and comply with Child Protection measures outlined by the Government, we respectfully ask you to refrain taking any form of photograph/video footage.  Tiny Train Tunes may on occasional take photographs, but we have express permission to do so.

How is the length of class determined?

Children have a short attention span and can get tired when activities are ongoing, so classes are limited to a set time to ensure to hold the children’s full attention for the duration of class.

How do I cancel my class booking/s?

There is a 15 day cool off period, if you change your mind after signing the paperwork, if you have not met the workshop leader in person.  Please request a cancellation form.

For those who are signed up for half termly classes: notice is one month prior to the start of the new term date.  If the space can be filled by another member (ie if there is a waiting list), you may be entitled to a refund for any missed classes.  However, if this is not possible you may not be entitled to refund.

Where is best to park for my class?

Woburn Sands – there is a free car park on site. Additional parking is available on the opposite roadside.

Flitwick – parking at Tesco.

Ampthill – there is limited parking at The Methodist Church which is first come first served.  Alternative parking available at Catherine’s Court nearby or a walk from Waitrose.

LOCATIONS ARE MARKED ON THE VENUE PAGES ON A MAP.

Are the classes pay as you go or do I book in advance?

As the music and activities are progressive and aim to develop the skills of the children who attend, classes are booked and paid for in advance prior to the beginning of each half term and this will ensure your space is allocated and secure for that half term (unless you wish to give notice).  A half term is between 5-7 weeks long depending on the term dates and the venue – this information will be made clear in the joining paperwork.  You will also have priority booking for the following half term, before classes are opened up to others.

Do I need to stay at the session with my child?

Yes, you will remain in the sessions - we would love you to join in too!  And it’s a great bonding experience!

What time should I arrive at my class?

There is a small changeover window between classes, so you may arrive 5 minutes early to be ready and settled in for the start time.

Does my child need to wear any special clothing?

Comfortable clothes for easy movement please.  We take shoes off, so socks are also advised.

What happens in bad weather conditions?

If a class is able to run, it will.  Any cancellation due to adverse weather will be down to site safety.  In this instance your workshop leader will notify you as quickly as possible, normally via text and a notice will be placed on the Tiny Train Tunes website.  A credit will be given for a future class and/or if possible, another venue alterative provided.

What do you expect of the children, do they have to sit down the whole time?

All children and nominated adults are encouraged to join in a mixture of playing instruments, movement and activity and quiet time.

When do classes run?

Classes only run during term time.

Are classes different for different age groups?

Yes, classes are designed to be age-appropriate and progressive.  They will highlight a different skill set and activities.

Can I join part way through a term?

Yes! If you join part way through a term, payment will be made for the remaining classes in advance.  This will also give you priority booking for the following half term, before classes are opened up to others.

Can I try a class before I sign-up?

With prior arrangement you are invited to come along to a session and have a complimentary session.
